A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :

LSU is an institutional member of the Southern Regional Education Board’s Compact for Faculty Diversity. This institutional membership provides us with a specialized database offers and face to face recruiting opportunities for all doctoral scholars and Ph.D. recipients who have attended the Institute on Teaching and Mentoring, the largest gathering of minority Ph.D.s and Ph.D. candidates in the nation. LSU is very active with the SREB’s Compact for Faculty Diversity.

HBCU Visiting Professor Program
The Office of Academic Affairs (Equity, Diversity & Community Outreach) encourages diverse faculty to participate in an exciting new initiative called the LSU Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Visiting Faculty Program. This program, aimed at advancing the National Flagship Agenda action item, objective 4: increasing diversity and inclusiveness of LSU, with increased emphasis on recruiting and retaining minority and women students and faculty, has three primary goals: 1) to increase African American faculty presence at LSU; 2) to facilitate scholarly collaboration between LSU faculty and visiting faculty members from HBCU’s across the nation; and 3) to encourage outstanding HBCU undergraduates to consider LSU as their graduate school of choice.
