Does the institution include sustainability prominently in new student orientation?:
Yes

A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:

A slide is projected on a screen on stage behind the orientation speakers during Academic Convocation, one of the newest and most popular traditions for incoming students. This is one of the very few times that the thousands of students who enter LSU together are convened in one large room; the only other time is graduation.

LSU Sustainability and Recycling tables are hosted during orientation fairs.

LSU Ambassadors receive a 1 hr presentation/training on the subjects of LSU Sustainability and Recycling. They formally present and include materials in a binder for other tour guides. Ambassadors provide campus tours so that new students can find their classrooms before the first day of class. Students are encouraged to bring their class schedules, and Ambassadors take students in small groups to point out the important building around campus. LSU Ambassadors is a university organization under Louisiana State Universities department of Campus Life. The role of the LSU Ambassador is recruit, orient & advise incoming students on the departments, programs & services offered by the University. LSU Ambassadors is divided into ten different committees: Cohesion, Funding & Financial, Membership, Recruiting, SROW, Performance & Talent, Training, Orientation, Special Programs & Communications. Of the ten committees, only three are not meant to benefit the organization itself and directly benefit the University and surrounding community. The chairs of the above committees as well as two at large council members make up the governing body of the organization. The most important job of the LSU Ambassador is to foster a connection between first year students and the university. This connection is typically created at Orientation.LSU Ambassadors will orient and impact every incoming Freshman or Transfer student (so effectively, LSU Ambassadors touch every student at the university. Over the summer, they will see just under 5,000 students during our eight sessions.

Bengal Bound events are held during the official welcome week the fall semester. The LSU Sustainability website is included on the Bengal Bound event flyers.
