A brief description of the plan:
The Office of Campus Planning recently completed a campus wide Bike Facilities Master Plan for the proposed location of bike racks, bike lockers, and other bicycle communities. This plan was developed using the LEED standard (our plan exceeds this standard) and facility database to determine the appropriate quantity and location of bike facilities to meet a growing demand by the campus community.
The Office of Parking, Traffic, and Transportation has included a build out of these bike hubs for the entire campus into their long range capital improvements plan. It is being implemented as funding becomes available. Phase I of the master plan was completed in December 2009, and provided 750 bike parking spaces primarily in the academic quad area at a cost of $150,000. Phase II was completed in Spring 2010 and provided an additional 350 bike parking spaces. Phase III added 138 new bike spaces at the Student Union.
Bike pumps have also been installed at strategic locations campus wide. This was funded through the annual bike auction.
