Fleming College has approved the following definition of sustainability as the framework to assist in guiding and informing our understanding and application of sustainability across the curriculum:

Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It contains within it two key concepts:
- The concept of needs, in particular the essential needs of the worlds poor, to which over-riding priority should be given; and
- The idea of limitations imposed by the state of technology and social organization on the environments ability to meet present and future needs.

Yes

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the inventory:

A survey of all faculty was completed in 2012 for all courses offered in the 2011/2012 academic year to determine the number of sustainability-focused and sustainability related courses. Additional meetings with faculty took place when needed to gather the required information.
