A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):

The Office of Sustainability created the Green Office Program in the fall of 2016. The program includes both faculty and staff. The Green Office Program will help each office on their path to sustainability by equipping offices with sustainability resources and materials, by outlining actions each office can achieve, and acknowledging hard work and success through certifications. Each office appoints a Green Office Representative (GO Rep) to be the main contact person and peer educator within the group. The GO Reps lead the Green Office meetings which include a meeting to go over the certification form and challenge the office to set goals. Each quarter, GO Reps are invited to join the sustainability office for a training session about a specific sustainability topic (such as recycling, single use plastics, or electricity use). During these meetings the GO Reps are equipped with the tools and resources they would need to engage their offices in engaging in that particular topic. Additionally, each year, the Green Office program participants host a Office Supply Free Sale, where offices bring unneeded/unused office supplies to a central location. Then, for a day, these supplies are available to the entire campus community to encourage reusing of office materials.
