Adjusted net GHG emissions 12,403 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 13,622.10 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date May 1, 2019 May 1, 2018
End date April 30, 2020 April 30, 2019

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

Concordia signed the Climate Commitment in 2017 which prompted the college to begin doing GHG emissions reporting, so in 2017-2018 we did our first GHG emissions report. We decided to use 2018-2019 as our baseline, however, because that was the first year the colleges newly constructed Integrated Science Center came online, which had a significant impact on our GHG emissions

Figures needed to determine “Weighted Campus Users”:
Performance year Baseline year
Number of students resident on-site 1,141 1,256
Number of employees resident on-site 9 6
Number of other individuals resident on-site 0 0
Total full-time equivalent student enrollment 1,989 2,075
Full-time equivalent of employees 551 518
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 0 0
Weighted Campus Users 2,192.50 2,260.25

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user 5.66 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 6.03 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:
6.14

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:
1,437,561 Gross square feet

Floor area of energy intensive building space, performance year:
Floor area
Laboratory space 33,589 Square feet
Healthcare space 0 Square feet
Other energy intensive space 66,698 Square feet

EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
1,571,437 Gross square feet

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.01 MtCO2e per square foot

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

Concordia began the development of the college's Climate Action Plan in 2019. During that time we also began a Carbon Free Concordia campaign aimed at educating students, faculty and staff about our carbon neutrality goals. The aim of this campaign is to begin our carbon reduction efforts through systems and behavior change.
