Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Concordia College Living Classroom

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

In 2017/2018, Concordia College permanently established an outdoor, living classroom. The space is in a secluded, wooded area of campus that is only accessible though a narrow pathway. The pathway leads into a open area that is planted with perennials and is lined with Leopold benches. A sign was installed in 2019 which provides information on the living classrooms beginnings and a few of the plants highlighted in the space. The classroom is able to be reserved through the college's virtual event management system, so it is available for academic and non-academic purposes. The goal of the space is to provide a secluded outdoor space where students, faculty, and staff can learn through interaction with nature.
