The Sustainability Fund exists to demonstrate student initiative towards environmental sustainability at Northeastern University as well as promotion of initiatives dedicated to sustainability. It provides funding to various projects including sustainability related events and speakers on campus. The Green Initiatives Board maintains the fund and has authority to approve proposals.

The Green Initiatives Board serves as manager for the funds. The Board is intended to be comprised of 12 members, no more than half of which can be members of Student Organizations that focus on sustainability initiatives, and no more than half of which can be senators in the Student Government Association.
