The fill it yourself initiative is a response to the high consumption of beverages in disposable plastic bottles and the high cost of water dispensers from the campus catering provider. All freshman students will be provided a reusable water bottle at the convocation and receive education on plastic pollution and how to participate. The community engagement and sustainability office is providing catering-style dispensers of water for free to campus events and organizations - requests are made through the room reservation system. All colleges and the academic affairs division received education on the program and are encouraged to give away stickers for the bottles with associated incentives (such as raffles for collecting a certain number of stickers) to incentivise students to bring their bottles.
