A brief description of the institution’s formal community partnership to advance sustainability:

The Sustainability Coordinator sits on the board for the Clarksville Montgomery County Green Certification Program. This organization provides workshops to local businesses on how to green their facilities and operations. Participants conduct inventories of current sustainable practices for an initial rating and are then required to set annual goals to improve sustainability. Businesses can receive bronze, silver, gold or platinum ratings and can also be recognized for projects in particular categories such as water conservation, air quality and conservation of resources.
Austin Peay was one of the first three organizations to achieve platinum status during 2020. We also were awarded the best overall large organization.

In March 14, 2021 the Clarksville City Council passed a resolution to establish the city's first Sustainability Board. The Sustainability Coordinator was immediately identified as a local expert and was asked to serve in an advisory role to determine the structure and leadership of this organization. A representative from Austin Peay will serve as a permanent De Facto committee member to coordinate our sustainability initiatives. Currently, the Sustainability Coordinator is filling this role.

The Clarksville Community Health Foundation awarded over $400,000 in grant funding to support the Sustainable Campus Fee Committee in designing and constructing Austin Peay's Greenway Connection. This ADA compliant trail connects campus to Parks and Recreations 10 miles of walking and biking trails throughout the city. This partnership aims to improve the health of our campus community and to provide a safe route of alternative transportation to campus from numerous locations across the area.
