Does the institution have strategies in place to safely dispose of all hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste and seek to minimize the presence of these materials on campus?:
Yes

A brief description of steps taken to reduce hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:

The Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety (EOHS) Office has taken steps to increase awareness of hazardous materials on campus. A memo was sent out to the Faculty of Science in February outlining ways to reduce hazardous waste. The Laboratory Safety Training sessions delivered by the EOHS Office, also discusses the reduction of hazardous waste. Staff and Faculty are encouraged to order only what they require in the lab, versus ordering chemicals in bulk. Within the Laboratory Safety Manual, a policy approved by the President's Group, Section 14.1 Minimizing Hazardous Waste, outlines points to help lab personnel reduce the amount of waste that is produced.

A brief description of how the institution safely disposes of hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:

Waterloo Campus:
Hazardous waste is collected from various areas on campus. They include labs, boiler rooms, and storage rooms. All hazardous waste is brought to the lock up in the Science Research Building. RPR Environmental from Stoney Creek picks up the waste each month from the lock up.

Brantford Campus:
Hazardous waste is collected from various areas on campus and brought to the Carnegie Building storage closet. RPR Environmental from Stoney Creek picks up the waste upon request.
