For students, NYU operates the Wellness Exchange and the Counseling and Wellness Services. The Wellness Exchange is the constellation of the University's expanded and enhanced programs and services designed to address the overall health and mental health needs of students. Students can access this service 24 hours a day, seven days a week through a private hotline which will put them in touch with professionals who can help them address both day-to-day challenges as well as any other crises they may encounter, including depression, sexual assault, anxiety, alcohol and drug dependence, sexually transmitted infections, and eating disorders. Students can also come for in-person services via appointment or drop-in hours or speak to a counselor via chat. The Wellness Exchange is also available for students who just need to talk or to call about a friend.

Counseling and Wellness Services and the Wellness Exchange also offer psychiatry services, group counseling, and workshops to enhance personal, academic and social wellbeing.

For staff and faculty, NYU offers Carebridge Life Resources, NYU's Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Carebridge Life Resources provides support for personal and family problems in contemporary life. These confidential services are provided at no cost. Areas include: employee assistance, wellness, family & relationships, and life management. Services are provided at no cost to employees, their families, or dependents. Carebridge services are available online or via telephone, and board-certified counselors are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
