A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation (including how multiple dimensions of sustainability are addressed):

Every semester NYU hosts a ' Welcome Week' for all incoming First-year students, transfer students, and incoming graduate students. NYU's Office of Sustainability coordinates several activities during welcome week that feature sustainability prominently. These include activities such as:

- A Green Campus tour which discusses topics such as green building, landscaping, and ethical/fair trade coffee
- An Eco Fair, which features meet-and-greets with NYU clubs and local environmental organizations, as well as giveaways and hands-on demonstrations.
- Refill and Chill event where, in partnership with the Student Health Center, the Office of Sustainability hands out reusable water bottles.

These activities cover multiple dimensions of sustainability by discussing the economic and social benefits of practices such as: green buildings (clean indoor air, higher productivity, lower operating costs), buying ethically (supporting businesses that empower underrepresented groups, support social improvement projects, or are B-corporations), and how individual actions can help create change.

NYU also runs the "Reality Show" each year that is written, performed, and produced by NYU students for all new students. The reality show touches on issues that a new student may face, as well as what resources are available to assist them in navigating these issues. In 2019, one of the skits was centered on climate change and introduced the Office of Sustainability as a resource that students can turn to.
