Urban Future Lab

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

The Urban Future Lab is an entrepreneurial hub at NYU's Tandon School of Engineering that supports the creation of cleantech businesses in NYC. Its initiatives include ACRE, a business incubation program for startups addressing climate change; PowerBridgeNY, a proof-of-concept center commercializing research from local universities; and Clean Start, an advanced diploma from NYU for people seeking a transition into the cleantech sector.

The Urban Future Lab serves the general public in addition to NYU students and was created in partnership with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, a NYC non-profit whose mission is to promote growth in NYC.

The Urban Future Lab has supported over 50 cleantech businesses in the NYC area. Below are some examples of companies that have been members of the Urban Future Lab.

The NYC 2030 District is a nonprofit organization seeking to advance sustainable energy projects, programs and technologies in New York City.

Danish Cleantech Hub
The Danish Cleantech Hub is a US-Danish public-private partnership that is the single point of entry for all cleantech related activities between Denmark and New York.
