To calculate this response:
We obtained a complete list of reported community service hours from Pioneer Involvement Center for 2016-17 (this includes 440 unique students, for an average of 3:57 hours each). This is a very limited sampling of campus and likely massively underepresents community service on our campus. In order to correct for this, we use the Campus Sustainability Survey from Spring 2015 (which was completed within the allowed 3 year stars sampling period). The representative survey reported that 35% of the student body volunteers.
3075 students (35% of fy17 headcount (8,782)) * 3:57 hours each =12,141 hours
