UC San Diego offers free courses for employees on HR's eLearning platform. Research staff receive sustainability information with a focus on the Green Labs Program during required safety trainings. Staff are eligible to receive a discount on UC San Diego Extension's nearly 20 courses and three certificates related to sustainability. A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

The University of California provides campuses with a Silver level membership in USGBC. Through this all campus faculty, staff, and students can access a wide array of resources and are able to participate in LEED and other Green Building training. Additionally, the campus supports required staff participation in LEED credentialing/accreditation and other training opportunities, such as CEM training.
