Every year UC San Diego conducts a survey of employees (Staff at Work) and students ), both of which include questions related to campus climate and diversity.
The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) section of the Staff@Work survey includes 50 questions in three sections which explore satisfaction with the university and department climate with relation to EDI, experiences of uncivil or ostracizing behavior at work, and experiences of negative behavior directed at an individual due to his or her race/ethnicity or gender.

The 2020 Staff at Work Survey found that, overall, a majority of respondents were comfortable with the climate at UC San Diego, and that people from different backgrounds get along well. The top climate opportunities are (1) Department Diversity Programs and (2)Committee to Diversity.
UC San Diego continues to implement the Strategic Plan for Inclusive Excellence to shape the future of our university and ensure our continued level of excellence. The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion leads the overall effort. Through partnership and collaboration, The Office of EDI, which includes the Campus Community Centers and the Center for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion, leads campus diversity and inclusion efforts.
