A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
New Employee Orientation is given by Human Resources on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month and all new staff employees are required to attend. Information regarding campus sustainability programs and resources is distributed at new employee orientations, including a slide featuring affinity groups on campus which staff can join, such as the Staff Sustainability Network. Additionally, many departments such as Housing*Dining*Hospitality, Recreation and Resource Management & Planning do their own employee orientation, and sustainability is included in that training as well. Sustainability is also covered for researchers during regular mandatory Lab Safety Trainings conducted by Environment Health & Safety. The safety presentations cover topics such as energy efficient lab equipment use and waste minimization.
