Does the institution hold major events related to sustainability, such as conferences, speaker series, or symposia, that have students as the intended audience?:

A brief description of the event(s):

Richland does hold major sustainability events for students. In addition to annual Earth Day and Campus Sustainability Day activities, Richland has held at least one major summit or symposium related to sustainability each year: the National Teach-In on Global Warming in 2009; a symposium on Water: More or Less and a district-wide Student Transportation Summit in 2010; and another district-wide Sustainability Summit in 2011 held at Eastfield College. Richland also hosts an annual Intercultural Festival and Peace Pole planting ceremony each year, celebrating social equity and promoting peace [See http://www.richlandcollege.edu/internationaled/festival.php and http://www.rlc.dcccd.edu/peacepoles/]
