Humber College Diversity Committee works towards preventative initiatives that will foster a safe, equitable and inclusive environment in accordance with Humber College values of respect, excellence, innovation, learner focus and sustainability.

The Committee is committed to building and fostering an inclusive environment, which values the members of Humber College’s diverse communities and is free from discrimination and harassment. The Committee acknowledges that systemic and institutional discrimination exist within Canadian society. The Committee, guided by the principles of the Employment Equity Act (1966), works within Humber College to increase representation of the four designated groups: Aboriginal peoples, people with disabilities, visible minorities and women, within its faculty and staff.

Humber's Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Diversity ensures that diversity and equity are instilled as values throughout Humber's inclusive culture by offering the following services:
-Preventative and Corrective Education on Human Rights, Equity and Diversity
-Early intervention into human rights related concerns and human rights investigations
-Leadership and coordination of the employment equity program
-Leadership and coordination of AODA initiatives
-Collaboration with post-secondary institutions, and community organizations
-overseeing and leading the Humber Diversity Commitee and AODA committee

A brief description of the diversity coordinator's position:

The Director of the Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Diversity reports to the Vice-President of HR Services. The Director is responsible for the administration of the Ontario Human Rights Code (1962), Employment Equity Act (1995), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (2005), and the overall operation of the Centre for Human Rights, Equity & Diversity. Responsibilities include the provision of human rights and related education, training, and directing investigations including, mediation and conciliation of human rights complaints.
