Yes

A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:

Humber College is committed to reducing the use of resources and creating a more sustainable footprint. One way to fulfill this responsibility is by embracing sustainable practices in our day-to-day lives. Facilities Management has made a strong commitment to sustainability and to creating a green campus. With enrollment increasing at Humber, future campus growth and expansion will provide great opportunities for incorporating green practices into campus space planning, capital projects renovations, maintenance and operational activities.

Sustainable practices and planning principles we have committed to include:

• Develop campus buildings and infrastructure to achieve energy efficiency.
• Create flexibility in the design of new and renovated space to accommodate changing needs and functions over time. For instance, in our Design Centre, movable partitions/walls were used to create an interactive learning environment where a large space for group learning could be sub-divided into smaller study spaces.
• Maximize natural daylight to reduce energy use. For example: create work spaces near windows with corridor in the middle. Create skylights when possible.
• Create flexible multi-use spaces. For example: Community Room, B105/106 uses flexible furniture, folding tables and chairs, easy to set up so the space could be used as a training room, meeting room, for events, classrooms, etc.
• Reuse existing furniture for new projects/ renovations. Retired furniture is donated to charity or sold to a third party
• Create and maximize open concept space by using recyclable, reusable system furniture
• Preserve and retrofit of existing buildings to support current use and future growth.
• Add green spaces and minimize of reducing of green space for new development.
• Preserve mature trees
• Relocate bus stops that contribute to unsafe traffic and pedestrian conditions
• Provide conveniently located barrier free parking space across campus
• Plan and design for the following circulation priorities, in order: pedestrian, bicycle, public transit, private vehicles
