Sustainability in Humber’s curriculum includes concepts related to one or more of the following sustainability areas: ecological preservation, social justice and economic viability. Sustainability-focused courses concentrate on the concept of sustainability, including its social, economic, and environmental dimensions, or examine an issue or topic using sustainability as a lens. Sustainability-related courses incorporate sustainability as a distinct course component or module, or concentrate on a single sustainability principle or issue.
Sustainability at Humber is directed by the statement in our Strategic Plan (2013-2018): “We preserve our collective future by embracing the social, ecological, and economic impact of our decisions.” Sustainability in the curriculum includes discussion and investigation of ways to “meet contemporary needs without compromising the ability of future generations to satisfy their needs” (UN World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987).
