A brief description of the plan(s) to advance sustainability in Curriculum:

A new sustainabilty concentration was developed by faculty in the Communications, Humanities and Social Sciences that ties to the University of New Mexico. A faculty was granted course release to survey all courses to determine what sustainable measures are being used in the classrooms and a new Sustainability Curriculum Team has been formed to deal with the issue of sustainability in the curriculum.

A new sustainability curriculum team was created to look at campus engaement and sustainability and to work with community to ensure sustainability is infused into all areas of the campus.

CNM is working to incoorporate air and climate inssues into the curriculum and working with the sustainability curriculum team to look at areas around air and climate.

CNM has a plan that all new buildings and renovations meet LEED silver or higher. Currently over 400,000 sf of the campus is certified. The Master plan notes that CNM will be renovating over 200,000 additional square feet to meet LEED Silver.

CNM has a contract with Sodexho and is working to incorporate sustainable practices into the food court.

A brief description of the plan(s) to advance sustainability in Energy:

CNM has a plan to reduce the amount of energy consumed and the cost of the energy. Plans are being developed to review renewable energy options and work with the local utility to implement renewable energy options. A new Building Automation System is currently funded to create a campus building automation system to collect data to drive energy use in the future.

CNM Purchasing Department is working with State Procurement Statutues to review options to increase sustainable purchasing practices in the process.

CNM works with the Middle Rio Grande Council of Governments to review transportation alternatives and is working to develop alternative modes of transportation like bicycle and skateboarding on campus to create pathways to allow them to connect with City routes.

CNM has been working with Great Colleges to Work to determine surveys on what employees are thinking in regards to the workplace. CNM also has student climate survey to see what students are thinking in regards to their educational experience. HR is working to develop a wellness component for Staff and Faculty.
