A brief description of the institution’s Low Impact Development (LID) practices:
Sustainable strategies are employed in the site design of new buildings to direct run off to planted areas to promote nature water harvesting, while reducing irrigation requirements. Projects include Rio Rancho Campus Parking lot, Advanced Technology Center planting mediums, the Westside Campus Parking lot.
Has the institution adopted a rainwater/stormwater management policy, plan, or strategies that mitigate the rainwater runoff impacts of ongoing campus operations through the use of green infrastructure? :
A brief description of the institution’s rainwater/stormwater management policy, plan, and/or strategies for ongoing campus operations:
CNM works closely with Albuquerque Metro Arroyo Flood Control Agency and the Sandoval County Arroyo Flood Control Agency to review all projects on campus to ensure water going back into the arrroyos are mitigated.

Do to the small amount of rainfall, strategies are employed to use landscaping areas to hold assist CNM in irrigation of plantings

CNM uses retention and detention ponding to filter rainwater prior to the release of the water to the arroyo. Systems are worked to filter the water prior to entering the arroyos as required by the agencies having jurisdiction over the arroyos.
