A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:

The USF Tampa Campus Master Plan incorporates sustainable goals, objectives, and policies for campus conservation and future growth. The sections include General Requirements, Vision Statement, Future Land Use, Transportation, Housing, General Infrastructure, Conservation,Recreation & Open Space, Intergovernmental Coordination, and Capital Improvements. The Master Plan policies describe reduction of greenhouse gas generation, solid waste, heat island effect, pesticide use, energy and potable / irrigation water consumption; improvements to transit and walk/bike systems; conservation of open space and natural resources; xeriscape landscaping and many other issues in support of sustainable practices and sustainable education. The USF Design and Construction Guidelines also incorporate sustainable guidelines.

Sustainability improvements to the campus built environment focus on increasing a sense of place and enhancing the long-term sustainability of infrastructure systems.
• Increase efficiency of utility infrastructure for electricity, water, building materials, etc. and ensure these systems can support future growth.
• Improve campus density by maximizing building heights as appropriate to type and scope of project.
• Improve use of common interior and exterior areas.
• Expand and diversify campus-wide recycling.
• Establish a LEED Silver standard for New Buildings and Existing Buildings as funds allow.
