A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s), including information to support each affirmative response above :
The University of Miami provides a comprehensive wellness program to all faculty and staff based on a holistic view of well-being that incorporates physical, psychological, interpersonal, financial, communal and occupational dimensions of wellness. Programming throughout the year includes everything from very personal interactions such as healthy lifestyle coaching and chronic condition management, financial seminars and counseling, to large scale events such as the Week of Well-Being and the Dolphins Cancer Challenge where thousands of UM faculty and staff take part at once. The University’s Faculty and Staff Assistance Program is also available year round to those in need of referrals to local services such as elder care and credit counseling, or counseling for life stressors or other needs. The Well ‘Canes Incentives Program ties everything together by awarding points for participation in nearly all of these activities and programs, creating financial incentives for faculty and staff to get well and stay well. Although the program is still fairly new, the ROI of the program is already 2:1 with participation increasing dramatically year over year.
