A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with green building design and construction guidelines and policies:
The Wood Technology Center was expanded and the new construction was built to LEED Silver standards as required by Washington State Law: http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/swfa/greenbuilding/law.html. However, the construction contractor went bankrupt before submitting the required reporting information for LEED certification and the company no longer exists to provide this information. The Seattle Community Colleges are currently in negotiations with the State as to how we can meet the law requirement without the information needed to receive LEED certification. The building, though, was built and designed to meet a minimum of LEED Silver standards.
