Ban the Bottle
A brief description of the campaign(s):
The Ban the Bottle campaign conducted during the 2011/12 year sought to ban the sale of bottled water from dining halls and cafes on campus. The campaign was led by the Student Sustainability Club and included gathering student petitions, meetings with services staff and administrators, and creating signage to educate students on the negative social and environmental impacts of bottled water.
A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign(s):
Bottled water was removed from the dining hall and the two campus cafes at the beginning of the Winter quarter. The Student Sustainability Committee was charged with the upkeep of educational signage in these areas on why bottled water was removed and what the available alternatives are.
