MJC Zero Textbook Cost Initiative: Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) and Low Textbook Cost (LTC) Courses have saved MJC students thousands of dollars, increasing student access and promoting student success through the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) and other instructional materials. Between Fall 2019 and Fall 2022, MJC had 79,889 student enrollments in ZTC courses resulting in student savings of $3,385,000. In Fall of 2022, MJC offered 551 ZTC sections.

Incentives for academic staff to adopt ZTC/OER:
Annual ZTC/OER Faculty Award:The ZTC/OER Faculty Award was established in 2022 to honor the work of an exceptional faculty member who has gone above and beyond in support of the Institutional efforts around ZTC and the use of OER.
OER Heroes award: An OER Hero is a faculty member who has displayed great dedication to using Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) or developing Open Education Resources (OER) for their classes.
