A brief description of the policies and procedures that ensure community stakeholder engagement is applied systematically and regularly across the institution’s activities:

As a community college, community stakeholder engagement id critical to our success. We systematically and regularly engage community members as elected Board of Trustee members, Advisory Group members for each of our academic programs, the county Chamber of Commerce, County Board, Mayors Councils, community partners and residents.


A brief description of how the institution identifies and engages community stakeholders, including any vulnerable or underrepresented groups:

We identify and engage with all community employers, educational institutions (K-16), and other community partners like the Kankakee Economic Alliance, The Community Alliance, Community Foundation, etc. We engage them in our Advisory Groups, Focus Groups, Strategic Planning process--and with them in their strategic planning, focus groups, and community initiatives. We founded an Entrepreneurial University with the Economic Alliance which offers the winners of an annual competition a grant, small business assistance and financial aid.

The major community stakeholder engagement outcomes include: a successful strategic planning process with engagement of all sectors from the community, revamping of our workforce advisory groups and internship programs(based on input during the strategic planning process), completion of a bike trail, creation of a community garden, solar array installations at area schools, etc.
