A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):

Sustainable Consultations of Office Practices (SCOOP) is designed to assess current practices in an office setting. Through assessment, SCOOP formulates sustainable recommendations for improvements to achievable sustainable office goals. Student consultants are fully trained on how to measure energy, recycling, lighting, and other practices. They then work with offices to implement changes and train at least one SCOOP Champion per office consulted. This person is educated and empowered to act as a role model for sustainable behavior and office practices to their co-workers, and are recognized for their leadership.


A brief description of the employee educators program’s target audience (1st program):

Members are trained to integrate the policies of the SCOOP handbook into the workplace, working with faculty and staff. SCOOP’s ultimate goal is to create effective and lasting partnerships among the students, faculty and Green Campus collaborative that lead to campus wide sustainable, forward-moving solutions.

Sustainable Consultants of Office Practices (SCOOP) is open to and marketed to all managers, staff, faculty and offices groups on campus. SCOOP typically works with 5-10 offices / year of varying sizes. The estimated total new staff and faculty directly engaged annually at 250. The estimated total staff and faculty in previously certified offices that are served by the group on an ongoing basis through follow-up outreach and events at 750. (Total 1000) 2019 was SCOOP's 10th year of operation, the group has worked with nearly 60 offices across campus to-date, representing many hundred faculty and staff employees. SCOOP Champions from these offices are invited and often participate in ongoing trainings and brown bag luncheons. This program was suspended in 2020, and hasn't resumed after COVID.

SCOOP engages employees as peers on a regular basis. SCOOP employee educators are responsible for engaging all managers, staff, faculty and offices groups on campus; however campus staff are the primary group of employees directly targeted and served by the program. Since all campus managers and staff are targeted, we used the total number of managers and staff on campus in 2019 as the "total number of employees served by a peer-to-peer sustainability outreach and education program" as per the credit guidelines eventhough not all staff employees actively participate.
