A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:

Any member of campus can become a sustainability coordinator. This program provides for specialized training in sustainability and sustainable practices of the university. The Sustainability Coordinators are given a training session at the inception of their role and required to complete a refresher training session every two years.
The Office of Sustainability partnered with the EAP program on a workshop on sustainability as a training and professional development opportunity for all employees in June of 2020.


A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

The state of New York Green NY council provided a trainings series called "Train to Sustain" over the course of 2020-2022. These sessions were advertised to all UAlbany employees with over 50 taking advantage of the sessions. Additionally the Green NY council conducts monthly lunchtime webinars, which are advertised to sustainability coordinators and ambassadors. Recordings of relevant sessions are shared where appropriate, for example, the session on sustainable swag was shared with student affiars staff.

A brief description of how sustainability is included in staff performance reviews :

Sustainability goals are embedded in several performance plans of the VP of Finance and Administration direct reports and their senior staff. These include goals related to energy, waste reduction, food procurement and alternative transportation.
