A sustainable compensation standard has been developed and adopted through a committee with multi-stakeholder representation as a job evaluation committee has recently formed at UOIT. HR has brought on consultants to help re-evaluate all jobs and assess compensation according to job description.

UOIT has a sustainable compensation standard that is in the institution’s locality through periodic salary market review and by participating in local salary surveys.

UOIT is in compliance to the minimum wages standard and other provisions of Employment Standards Act of Ontario, ensuring appropriate poverty guidelines and thresholds or low-income cut-offs are met.

UOIT's sustainable compensation standard is $12.50 per hour, and 100% of employees, contractors, graduate students, and work study students fall at or above that standard".

More than Ontario Minimum wage, work study students $11.75

In addition, all salaries have been developed in an internal job evaluation project using a Point factor job evaluation system which is mandated by the Ontario Pay Equity Act.
The evaluation system was developed in house in 2010 based on expertise from consulting firms as well as input indirectly from employees

UOIT HR has developed salary grids which indicate the ranges of salary based on job description and level

These grids are updated in response to changes in the economy (ie. annual inflation)
