A brief description of the undergraduate degree program:

Students majoring in the Environmental Science, B.S. program gain cross-disciplinary foundational knowledge that allows them to confront complex issues such as climate change, soil, air and water contamination, biodiversity loss, food systems, and overdevelopment of our coastlines and forests. They also gain foundational knowledge in sustainability and environmental policy.

Environmental Biology (Biology BS)

A brief description of the undergraduate degree program (2nd program):

Students majoring in the Environmental Biology program (Biology, B.S.) will gain skills in monitoring biodiversity through hands-on field courses and research experiences. They can use this major to gain a strong background in wildlife ecology, ornithology, forest and plant ecology, entomology, marine biology, conservation, and evolutionary biology.

Earth Science BA

A brief description of the undergraduate degree program (3rd program):

Our Earth Science, B.A. program introduces students to the underlying principles of Earth Science and sustainability. After taking foundational courses in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Geology, Astronomy, Meteorology and Oceanography, students will take upper-level electives in the areas that interest them the most, with requirements in upper-level Sustainability, Earth Science and/or Environmental Science courses.

This 15-credit minor provides you students with knowledge of how to incorporate technology, science, and society into environmental sustainability and is an ideal complement to majors including, but not limited to, Economics, Management, Design, Architecture, Political Science, Biology, Environmental Science, Recreation, Psychology, and Sociology.

Environmental Justice

A brief description of the undergraduate minor or concentration (2nd program):

This interdisciplinary 18-19 credit minor introduces students to a broad array of issues, challenges, social movements, and areas of contestation surrounding environmental justice. Students can choose from a special array of courses that foster critical thinking, that build analytic and communication skills, and that encourage effective solution-seeking to enhance the equitable distribution of environmental benefits and harms. The topics cover important global issues such as how to diminish disparities in toxic waste disposal, ecological resource protection, water and air quality control, and climate change mitigation.

This 15-credit minor is housed within the Department of Environmental and Sustainability Science. It requires a Sustainability course in Environmental, Health and Safety and allows students to specialize in an area of Environmental Health that interest them.
