A brief description of the institution’s supportive sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:

Endicott is an active participant in the North Shore Sustainability Partnership, a group of local schools facility directors, sustainability directors, and environmental and science teachers from local secondary schools, universities, and communities. The Partnership works to help one another address recycling, green buildings, renewable energy, and environmental education.

Scope: Operations and education issues related to local educational institutions
Duration: 6 years - ongoing
Commitment: Host meetings, attend meetings, present to the group, advise the director
Governance: Endicott is an active participant and advisor to the director. The partnership has very modest grant support that pays for a coordinating director.

Yes

A brief description of the institution's collaborative sustainability partnership(s):

Endicott is a financial sponsor of the North Shore Technology Council and active member of the Council's Sustainability Working Group. The Working Group meets monthly with technologists, academics, students, and business professionals to promote business and create opportunities for networking and learning. Multiple dimensions for sustainability are addressed and include issues such as green buildings, oceans, affordable housing, business development, climate change, and local resilience. Endicott has hosted events, served on the planning committee, and presented on campus sustainability and renewable energy. Students, staff, and faculty attend. The Council is open to all and attended by members of the community, local businesses, higher education, and interested individuals.
Scope: Regional business and sustainability professional networking and support
Duration: 5 years ongoing
Commitment: Steering committee member, Sponsor, and Presenter
Governance: Endicott serves on the steering committee of Sustainability Working Group along with members of the regional sustainability community.

Yes

A brief description of the institution's transformative sustainability partnership(s) with the local community:

Beverly Bootstraps provides critical resources to families and individuals so they may achieve self-sufficiency. Bootstraps offers emergency and long-term assistance including: access to food, housing stability, adult and youth education, counseling and advocacy. Endicott partners with Bootstraps in a number of ways including: donations, financial support, volunteers, and as a member of both the Board of Directors and the associated Beverly Community Council. Bootstraps works with a number of social service agencies in the region to identify stakeholder groups and to provide services in cooperation with these agencies. The challenges of poverty are addressed with training, skill building, on-going long and short-term services. The Bootstraps thrift shop is a vibrant re-purposing and recycling facility. Endicott donates a great deal of merchandise through our move-out program.

Commitment: Endicott is committed to Bootstraps with financial support, volunteers, and donations.
Governance: Bootstraps is governed by a board of directors. Endicott staff serve on the board as well as on the affiliated Beverly Community Council.


A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with distant (i.e. non-local) communities:

Our Director of Sustainability is a member of the Advisory Board for Power Options, a energy buying and advocacy group serving over 200 non-profits. The Advisory Group meets regularly to address energy procurement, renewable energy, efficiency, and energy policy.
