New England Sustainable Cannabis Certification (NESCC)

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

The Institute for Sustainability, in collaboration with the Cannabis Studies Program, launched the New England Sustainable Cannabis Certification (NESCC) in October 2022. The certification recognizes regional cannabis businesses committed to implementing sustainable practices. Businesses commit to the continuous improvement of their environmental and social impacts, thus serving as models for the long-term sustainability of cannabis businesses and the communities in which they operate. The Institute plans to scale the certification to become more strict as the program grows.
