Does the institution have a central sustainability website that consolidates information about the institution’s sustainability efforts?:

Website URL for the central sustainability website:
Does the institution have a sustainability newsletter or social media platform that focuses specifically on campus sustainability?:

A brief description of the sustainability newsletter or social media platform:

After every Green Campus Committee meeting, the meeting notes and relevant updates are sent out to GCC members and other interested individuals on the email list.

The Institute for Sustainable Energy has a YouTube channel that houses recycling videos and other sustainability content. These resources are primarily used as reference materials at this time (fall 2022) while the Institute is being restructured.

Does the institution have signage that highlights sustainability features on campus?:

A brief description of the signage that highlights sustainability features on campus:

Eastern has 5 buildings designed to LEED Silver standards. Signage is posted within each of these buildings regarding their LEED status.

Efforts are also being made to implement signage to identify native plants on campus and identify sustainable energy sites, water features, and biodiverse areas of campus to inform and educate the campus community.

Does the institution provide a sustainability walking map or tour?:

A brief description of the sustainability walking map or tour:

Eastern has a sustainability map on the "Sustainability at Eastern" webpages, under "Green Buildings and Grounds." The map provides information on Eastern's "green" buildings and grounds. A sustainability tour is available upon request. The Institute for Sustainable Energy has worked closely with admissions guides to include these green features as part of their tour to prospective students.

Does the institution produce a guide for green living and/or incorporating sustainability into the residential experience?:

A brief description of the guide for green living and/or incorporating sustainability into the residential experience:

Eastern offered Green Theme Housing through the 2019-2020 academic year. This community allows students who are interested in environmental issues the opportunity to participate in numerous initiatives related to sustainability, going green, reducing carbon footprint, conserving natural resources, and recycling. Various service projects related to the environment are conducted throughout the year. Due to declining interest, the decision was made to only renew three Theme communities (Gender Inclusive, Honors, and Quiet and Substance Free) in the 2020-2021 academic year, with Green Theme being one of the discontinued themes and is currently not offered. We still have the ability to host sustainability programs within the individual residence halls and encourage our RAs/HDs to do so. There is potential for Green Theme to be renewed in the future.

There is also educational material on mixed recycling, reducing water use, and electricity reduction that has been distributed within residence halls through TV monitors and in paper/poster form by Hall Directors. Recycling information is displayed on residential trash and recycling dumpsters (these materials have been up since 2015).

All residence hall rooms across campus have been upgraded to low-flow showerheads, which save energy and hot water while waiting for shower to become warm. These showerheads reduce energy and water usage while educating students about sustainability practices when installed.

A brief description of other comprehensive sustainability outreach materials and publications not covered above:

The Institute for Sustainable Energy has created recycling videos, one geared towards students and one aimed at faculty and staff, to help them gain a more thorough understanding of recycling on campus. The videos incorporate Eastern students and staff of various majors and backgrounds who are enthused about creating a greener, cleaner campus. These videos are seen as a fun, dynamic way to reach out to campus members not only to provide them with information about Eastern's green features, but to also encourage everyone to become more sustainable.
