A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:

In spring 2022, the University Sustainability Manager hosted a virtual training session on Green Purchasing and Environmentally Preferred Procurement (EPP) Practices. The session was part of a virtual Financial Services Workshop hosted annually and the Green Purchasing session was attended by over 200 procard and port users on campus.

There are multiple courses offered by the ECU Lifelong Learning Program that are open to current and former non-academic staff. The sustainability-related courses from the Fall 2022 catalog include:

- Garden Smarter, Not Harder
- Community Resiliency Model (CRM)
- The Tuscarora of Eastern North Carolina
- The Universe Story
- Outer Banks Field Trip: Marine Science Research and Education at ECU's Coastal Studies Institute (CSI)

The University Sustainability Manager is funded to attend multiple training opportunities each year, including the annual AASHE Conference. In addition, other staff within Facilities, Dining, Parking, Transit, Grounds, and other Campus Living and Campus Operations units attend the Appalachian Energy Summit every summer and many also attend conferences with sustainability tracks in their own fields of practice.

There are only a handful of positions (e.g. sustainability manager, director of facilities, energy manager, bikeshare coordinator, recycling coordinator, and grounds and utility shop supervisors) that have sustainability metrics in their annual performance reviews.
