The Universe Story
This course focuses on the Universe Story, a book written by Thomas Berry and Brian Swimme, that details the transformation of the universe from the Big Bang some 14 billion years ago to the present day. It is a story that includes us as human beings and speaks to our place in and responsibility for the universe, particularly the earth. It is a story we all should know, it is a story that opens possibilities for unifying divisive humanity.

The Tuscarora of Eastern North Carolina
From CE 1400-1700, the Tuscarora tribe of the Haudenosaunee nation was a dominant force in what would become eastern North Carolina. This program will consider the history and culture of the Tuscarora tribe--its origins, its history, its folkways--and the series of events that led to a mass migration of tribe members to upstate New York in the eighteenth century. The program will highlight the legacy of the Tuscarora language on the region and the tribe's response to European settlement on the formation of the Carolina colony. The program will also examine Tuscarora agriculture, noting especially the plants that had profound impact on the tribe's viability.

Garden Smarter, Not Harder!
Participants will learn how to garden smarter, not harder while making sure that their own health is as good as their garden's. Together we'll plant the seeds of sun, heat, hearing, vision, pest and pesticide safety. We'll sprinkle in wisdom about how to choose just the right personal protective equipment (PPE) and learn how adaptive tools can take the stress off your hands, knees and back. If you're an avid gardener or even a beginning one, you'll find something of interest here!

ECU Outer Banks Campus Field Trip: Marine Science Research and Education at the Coastal Studies Institute

Join us for a trip to the coast and visit the ECU Outer Banks Campus, home of the Coastal Studies Institute (CSI). Learn about the coastal and marine science research and education projects of CSI through a guided tour of the facilities. Interact with CSI faculty and staff and learn about all of the fascinating work happening on ECU's coastal campus. Experience the beauty of the estuary through an on-the-water boat program highlighting our coastal ecosystems and how CSI scientists are studying them. Join us for a fun-filled, educational experience at the coast!

This workshop will take a deeper dive into the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)®. CRM is a biological-based model of intervention based on emerging neuroscience that is easily accessible, affordable, and adaptable to all audiences.

Lean Six-Sigma White Belt Certification: For Sustainable and Green Manufacturing
In this 2-day course, participants will learn the principles of Lean Six-Sigma (LSS) that will enable them to adopt best practices of LSS into their workplace to pursue green manufacturing for assured sustainability of our planet. On the first day, an overview of LSS will be presented, with examples of what leading organizations have adopted as best practices. On the second day, a hands-on simulation to demonstrate how LSS thinking can be internalized by employees to improve all processes will be conducted. At the end of the 2-day training, a LSSWB certificate will be earned by the participants.

ISO 50001: Energy Management Systems Overview

ISO 50001 supports organizations in all sectors to use energy more efficiently, through the development of an energy management system (EnMS). This course is designed to provide a general overview of the concepts, requirements and benefits of using an energy management system based on the ISO50001 standard.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Discuss the purpose of an energy management system
- Explain the benefits of an energy management system
- Describe the requirements of ISO 50001
- Understand the next steps in getting started with ISO 50001 in your organization
