Our lowest paid employees receive a total compensation value at about 134% of Fresno's living wage. Total compensation includes an employee's salary plus the monetary value of their benefits package. The value of an employee's benefits package varies depending on the employee/collective bargaining group and the type of benefits plan they choose. To qualify for most benefits, you must have employment exceeding six months and one day, with a time base of at least .50. Academic-year lecturers and coaches are eligible for benefits if appointed for a minimum of one semester or two consecutive quarters with a time base of .40 or greater. Employees who do not meet eligibility requirements listed above may qualify for health care under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If you do not meet any of the eligibility criteria mentioned, you may still be eligible to enroll in many of the voluntary plans.

We are a part of the 23-campus California State University System in which all employees (except Management Personnel Plan and other non-represented employees) are covered under a collective bargaining agreement which ensures sustainable wages. The salary schedule is set by the CSU Chancellor’s Office in negotiation with the unions and applied to all 23 campuses.

Effective January 1, 2023, the California minimum wage increased to $15.50 per hour, in an effort to provide a more living wage. Increases in salary rate and range minimums affected California State University (CSU) classification codes and were updated accordingly.
