Does the institution make available training and/or other professional development opportunities in sustainability to all staff at least once per year?:
Yes

A brief description of the sustainability trainings and professional development opportunities available to staff :

Several opportunities for staff development exist at UWRF. One of those programs is the Series on Excellence and Innovation (SIE) which is a series of events highlighting various aspects of campus and the goals of each of those areas. In 2015, the presentations that included sustainability related topics included "Behind the Scenes: A Closer Look at the Recruitment and Admission Process" and 'Today's Student Veterans: The Unique Non-Traditional Student Body".

UWRF hosted a TEDx event on campus in 2015 with speakers focusing on social justice, overcoming adversity, and sustainable business practices.

UWRF also sends faculty and staff to the annual AASHE Conference each year. Fortunately, due to the conference being hosted in Minneapolis in 2015, UWRF was able to send a larger delegation consisting of 10 faculty and 3 staff.

It is important to note that there are many more opportunities for faculty and staff on campus to engage in sustainability through notable visitor presentations, collaborative research, student life activities that cater to the wider campus community, as well as all the diverse ways campus is used as a living laboratory.

The percentage of staff that participated in training and/or other professional development opportunities in sustainability during the previous year:
34

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

Percentage of staff: This percent was derived from 268 faculty and staff attending the SIE events in 2015 resulting in a 33% attendance rate. Some faculty and staff included in that 33% likely also participated in the AASHE Conference or the TEDx event. Therefore, it is estimated that an additional 10-20 faculty and staff participated in professional development opportunities outside of the SIE events which results in about 280 faculty and staff out of 819.

As noted below, there are numerous formal and informal opportunities throughout the year (periodic brown bags, Earth Day activities centered around speakers, etc). In addition to the UWRF Master Calendar, the Falcon Daily which goes to all Faculty/Staff also further updates the campus to events and activities. That information can be found here: http://www.uwrf.edu/UniversityCommunications/FalconDaily.cfm
