A brief description of how the literacy assessment was developed and/or when it was adopted:

The Sustainability Literacy Survey was created through the collaborate work of faculty, staff, and students and first implemented in Fall 2017. It is reviewed and revised each year to include additional questions of relevance.

The assessment is administered to all freshman as part of their required First Year Experience (FYE) course. The first exit survey was administered in the spring of 2018.


A brief summary of results from the literacy assessment(s):

The majority of our student population continues to indicate an interest in issues of sustainability with the primary focus being environmental protection and restoration followed by renewable energy and sustainable building design. As an institution we have an opportunity to more closely evaluate the survey data to influence our curriculum offering to support the sustainability aspirations or our student populations.
