A list of the institution level sustainability learning outcomes:

To graduate from Northland College, all students must satisfy the College's "Environmental Liberal Education" requirements.

The program is designed to ensure that students develop the following learning outcomes:
•foundational skills in written communication and mathematics;
•a breadth of disciplinary learning characteristic of a liberally educated individual;
•an understanding of diversity, inequality, prejudice, and discrimination; and
•an understanding of natural systems and the complex relationships between human endeavors and the natural world.

Completion of the program is a graduation requirement for Northland College students, and those who successfully complete the program will also have satisfied many of the requirements for an environmental studies minor.

The College's degree programs were examined to determine which programs required at least one sustainability-focused course. Then, the number of students who graduated from each of the degree programs with required sustainability-focused courses in 2018, 2019, and 2020 were determined and totaled (see supporting spreadsheet).
