Yes

A brief description of the assessment process and the framework, scorecard(s) and/or tool(s) used:

During initial development of our Strategic Diversity Plan, students, faculty, and staff were engaged and encouraged to voice their concerns over issues related to diversity and inclusion. An online survey as well as focus group conversations were utilized to create our plan. Recently, President Joyce Jacobsen came to HWS and created the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Task Force. The DEI Task Force is charged with working with faculty, staff and students to assure there is forward movement in improving diversity, equity and inclusion at HWS. Similar to methods used in the development of our Strategic Diversity Plan were used by the DEI Task Force. This includes open forums and listening sessions, anonymous online feedback surveys, and targeted focus groups.

Does the assessment process address campus climate by engaging stakeholders to assess the attitudes, perceptions and behaviors of employees and students, including the experiences of underrepresented groups?:
Yes

Does the assessment process address student outcomes related to diversity, equity and success?:
Yes

Does the assessment process address employee outcomes related to diversity and equity?:
Yes

A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs, and initiatives:

The findings of the initial survey were used to create five focus areas for the Strategic Diversity Plan: recruitment and retention, space, student relations, teaching and learning, and community development. The way those focus areas are being incorporated into policies, programs, and initiatives at Hobart and William Smith Colleges are described in the plan. The DEI Task Force is currently still gathering information and analyzing data to determine how successfully the implementation of our Strategic Diversity Plan (including the five focus areas) has been.

Are the results of the most recent structured diversity and equity assessment shared with the campus community?:
Yes

A brief description of how the assessment results are shared with the campus community:

The strategic diversity planning working group organized a town hall meeting to share the goals and recommendations that were developed based on community input. Now that the plan is complete, it is posted on the Office of Diversity and Inclusion website. The DEI Task force sends monthly email updates to all of campus and is planning an campus-wide information session to disseminate their findings once complete.
