A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the student body:

The Office of Student Life oversees clubs and organizations and HACC currently has active clubs that support Latino, African American, Muslim, Christian and Gay/Lesbian students. The office also offers a variety of multicultural programs and workshops (see spreadsheet of multicultural events). http://www.hacc.edu/StudentLife/StudentActivities/index.cfm

The College offers free tutoring (in person and online) for students at all campuses. http://www.hacc.edu/StudentServices/TutoringServices/index.cfm

Counseling services are available at no cost to all students. http://www.hacc.edu/StudentServices/Counseling/index.cfm


A brief description of the programs sponsored by the institution to support underrepresented groups within the faculty:

The Office of Student Life at Harrisburg Campus provided a Safe Zone training for faculty, staff and students for working with LGBT students. Harrisburg Campus also been hosting “Word Wednesdays” that have addressed some of the derogatory words used towards various groups of underrepresented groups. HACC has a number of performers that have shared a wide variety of cultures in an effort to explore diversity on campus (see spreadsheet of multicultural events). This Spring 2012, HACC is planning an LGBT celebration night. The Harrisburg Campus also hosts a Latino/Hispanic Student Recognition dinner and an African American Student awards dinner. http://www.hacc.edu/StudentLife/StudentActivities/index.cfm
