In addition to those noted above, Dickinson annually participates in National Bike to Work Day. Faculty and staff programming, events, and education are coordinated in our on campus bicycle co-operative, The Handlebar.

We have actively partnered with Commuter Services of Pennsylvania as an institutional partner. Commuter Services helps commuters find carpool partners through the Commute PA program and provides advice on successful carpooling.

Students at Dickinson are required to purchase a parking tag in order to park in campus parking lots. Also, first-year students at Dickinson are not allowed to bring a car to campus. One reason for these policies is to encourage students to consider what it means to not have a car on campus and to reduce their reliance on driving.

Dickinson offers free shuttle for students to public transportation hubs before and after breaks and on a scheduled basis. This encourages the use of public transportation for commutes to campus.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:

Dickinson is committed to creating options for sustainable transportation in and around campus. Our Climate Action Task Force has addressed the issue of transportation directly and created excellent recommendations for pursuit over the next few years. However, Dickinson has already made great progress in the following areas of sustainable transportation: bike share, commuting programs and partnerships, and car share. Given the rural location of our campus, public transportation options are limited.
