A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about student commuting:

Dickinson is a residential college and students are required to live in college housing unless granted an exception. Walking, biking and skateboarding are the primary modes of transportation to classes for all of the 99% of students living on our compact, walkable campus.

Only 1% of students live in non-college housing. Of these, half walk, bike or skateboard to commute campus. Data on student commuters is collected by the office of Student Life.

A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:

Modal split for percentage of commuting trips by employees is calculated using results of a survey conducted in April 2023. The survey, which was sent to all employees, asked how many days per week they commute to work using different modes of transportation. Many employees using multiple modes. The modal split data reported above is the sum of the percentages of commuting trips, not percentage of employees, walking, biking, car pooling, riding public transit, and telecommuting.

The data reported below in the optional fields is also for percentages of trips, not percentages of employees.
