Champlain College is committed to reducing its green house gas emissions and ensuring that campus community members can live, work, and learn on a campus with clean air.

Champlain College is committed to creating a more sustainable physical campus. This includes retrofitting older buildings and ensuring that the construction of new buildings meets LEED standards.

Champlain College works to update current energy systems, ensure that newly-built energy systems meet efficiency standards, and source energy from sustainable sources.

Champlain College supports a more sustainable campus dining service by enacting and following initiatives which include buying locally sourced and fair-trade certified food, reducing food waste, and utilizing the Real Food Challenge Calculator.

Champlain College manages its grounds with a focus on native plantings, storm water management, ground debris composting, and a limited use of pesticides and fertilizers.

Champlain College contributes to a building a sustainable economy by purchasing goods and services from local, environmentally-friendly, or socially-just businesses. Additionally, Champlain strives to do business with entities that meet environmental guidelines.

Champlain College is committed to reducing green house gas emissions related to transportation by creating initiatives and policies which incentivize students, faculty, and staff to use more sustainable means of commuting to and from campus. These initiative and policies include but are not limited to providing bike storage and parking facilities (including showers), free city public transportation, and a free campus shuttle service.
