A brief description of when and why the workplace health and safety baseline was adopted:

As part of Belmont's ongoing commitment to improving workplace health and safety, we have developed specific programs in the office of the University Counsel focusing on threat assessment, risk management, and campus safety. Working with the Associate Provost and Dean of Students, the University has comprehensive evacuation plans, regular environment testing specifically within the dormitories and food services, and the University has purchased an alert communications system that sends email notifications and text messages and voice messages to registered user's phone numbers.

A brief description of the institution’s workplace health and safety initiatives:

Improving campus communications around risk assessment; hiring and training campus safety officers in threat assessment; regular environmental testing of air quality, etc.; and creation of an Office of Risk Management with appropriate staffing.
