Criteria
An institution earns 1 bonus point when it tracks the estimated market value of goods that are not purchased due to reduction and reuse initiatives across two or more of the following product categories:
-
Cleaning products
-
Office paper
-
Electronics
-
Furniture
-
Other (e.g., non-paper office supplies, food serviceware, or vehicles)
This may be accomplished, for example, by determining the current market value of:
-
Normalized reductions in the volume of specific goods purchased from a baseline (e.g., cleaning products per square meter of floor area cleaned and reams of paper purchased per person).
-
Goods that are reused on-site (e.g., furniture) as if they were purchased new.
-
Disposable goods that are displaced by reusable alternatives (e.g., based on the number of times reusable items are used where disposable items have been the standard).
Partial points are available. An institution that tracks its avoided spend for at least one of the product categories listed earns 0.5 bonus points.
